What information do I need to get started?

To get started, we just need some very basic information.

  • Username - You'll use this to log in. Letters and numbers only, please.
  • Screen Name - Because this is a community site rooted in real-world relationships, we encourage you to use your real first and last name. The name you enter here will be used to identify your posts and interactions. If you are engaged in security-sensitive work, it is acceptable to use an alias.
  • Email - Your email address is required to validate your account. We'll also use it to send any updates you subscribe to. We won't display your email address on the site unless you tell us to make it available to particular users and groups that you trust.
  • Password - Create a password for your account. Please create a strong password that uses letters and numbers and is not easily guessed. Avoid names and dates and words found in the dictionary.
  • Org Code - This is optional. If the organization that invited you to join this site gave you a code, enter it here to link your account to that organization. If you don't have a code, just leave it blank. If you get a code later, or have more than one code, there is a tool in the user profile you can use later to link your account to organizations.
