No, you can review conversations that are taking place without a login. To add a comment, you must register and log in to the site.
At minimum, you should add a short "signature" and update your bio.
Your signature will be displayed beside every comment you post on the site. Your bio helps community members get to know you and the work you're involved in.
You can also add your HIST and IDR Capabilities. Adding your capabilities helps us point you toward conversations you'll be interested in. You can also choose to share your capabilities with other users or groups you belong to as part of your profile.
Clicking on the “New Topic” button will take you to a form where you can enter the title of your topic and the text of the first message.
On this page, you can also select some tags to organize this topic. Choose tags that correspond to the subject matter you're discussing. If you miss a tag, other users can help edit the tags to make sure your topic is visible in the right places on the site.
Replies are in chronological order, with the newest reply at the bottom of the last page.
Click on the “Sign up for an account now” button and provide some basic information. We do not share any of this information with anyone unless you give us permission (for example, by adjusting your privacy settings to share your email address with group members.)
Clicking any user's name beside their comments will take you to their profile page.
You can also click the "Users" button in the menu for a list of all registered users.
Be aware that the information displayed on a user's page is dependent on their privacy settings. Users may choose to not share some or all of their profile information.
Use the star to mark conversations you want to remember. Think of the star like a "bookmarks" or "favorites" feature.
The "My Starred Conversations" link at the top of the page or the "Starred" tab on your profile page will show you a list of conversations you've starred.
Votes are a way for you to give feedback on the quality and relevance of conversations on the site.
If you think a conversation is particularly good, vote it UP by clicking on the up arrow beside the vote tally.
If a conversation is inappropriate, offensive, or inaccurate, you can vote it DOWN by clicking the down button. Conversations with several down votes will draw attention from the moderators, who can take action if necessary.
You can withdraw an up or down vote by clicking it a second time. If you've voted a conversation up or down and you want to vote the other way, you'll have to withdraw your first vote.
