Hi, I'm based in LA - over 15 years working with NGO's and now working with filmmakers to capture stories around the globe. I'm good friends with a HISG staff member who told me about this network. We want to get rolling with short stories (3 - 6 minutes)

We're looking into the use of Ham Radio communications during disaster. Does anyone know if a license is portable across borders? i.e., if I had a US license, would I be able to use ham equipment in other countries, or would I need a license in that country

Radio stations often get overlooked in needs assesments. We are looking for information regarding the extent of damage to radio stations. How many can still be heard on the air? Are stations broadcasting useful information? Do members of the affected community appear to have radios?
