HISG Operations in Pakistan
Betsy Brown - Pakistan Update
Here is an update from Betsy Brown on the Pakistan Flooding
Quick Update on the Situation:
- 20,000,000 people impacted, up to 25% of the country under water, destruction/elimination of primary local food supplies (with no change on the horizon for 2 years), VERY little outside help, big CRISIS for sure in the making. And it is STILL raining today, with forecast of rain continuing throughout the month of August.
HISG's current initiatives and operational update:
-
HISG (with local leadership) working through (1) primary Local Coordination Centers (LCC) in the north of Pakistan-- near Charsadda
-
In the Sindh Province to the south, HSIG funded and relocated two (2) large community water treatment systems with the partnership of Water Missions Int'l and local nationals. They are currently providing upwards of 10,000 gallons of water a day to refugee camps.
-
In Charsadda, HISG has funded the outfitting of local trucks with large water tanks to bring water to 10,000 people per day in the disaster zone.
-
HISG is funding the travel expenses of two (2) medical doctors coming from Brazil with the anticipation of additional doctors heading over shortly.
-
HISG is funding the air-freight delivery of $2 Million worth of crucial medications with the assistance of Alex Scott from Global Assist Network
-
With the help of Global Assist Network, HISG is attempting to fund and facilitate the delivery of several containers. These containers will deliver: household goods, bedding, blankets, school supplies, medical supplies, medical equipment, hygiene boxes, and food.
-
Water Missions International is in the process of securing 2 additional filtration systems (each capable of 10,000 gallons of water per day). HISG is investigating options for air-freight delivery to the disaster zone.
-
Finally, HISG is in the final stages of mobilizing its Response Management Team (RMT) with Betsy Brown already on the ground (see her second interview linked below) and additonal members on the way.

Thank you for your work in Pakistan. What a need, what an opportunity to help.
We are working to see if we can bring together enough partners to help make a difference through the distribution of sawyer water filters. I pray that we can be a part of this effort alongside of groups such as HISG.
