Hi all, Is there any working model for desalinating brackish water into clean drinking water? The communities in many parts of Sidoarjo, Indonesia have water wells that are not fit for consumption. They have to purchase drinking water from other sources. Any disaster outbreak will diminish their survival chance further.

Most of the wells are shallow and the government restrict further drilling on the fear of the risk of further contamination of their water aquifers. They will not risk another Lapindo mudflow. Rainwater collection is at best unreliable. Anybody has a sustainable solution or suggestion to this problem? Any help is appreciated.
