Chile Earthquake 2010
I'm posting this request from ACCI to see if anyone is moving relief goods into Chile that can assist them (see below). If so, please contact John Haley directly by Email (at bottom of post).
We (ACCI) have a missionary family in Chile, in the Santiago area. They have been working with a church there, doing training and helping this church send their own missionaries into rural areas, and even other countries. Since the earthquake, this church and our missionaries have been providing assistance to several villages which suffered extensive damage and that, because of their location, have received almost no government help yet. We are able to get funds to the Chilean church and to our missionaries, but the family’s home church in Oklahoma has gathered many materials, and is hoping to gather more, that they want to send to Chile for the relief effort in these outlying villages. The materials include many new items (tents, water purification devices, etc.) donated by a business person who owns a sporting goods store. They are having trouble finding anyone or any group to transport the materials to Chile. I contacted SP, but have not received any promising news from them. Do you know of anyone or any group that might be going into Chile that might be willing to take materials from this church with them? It looks like there would be no problem shipping the materials anywhere in the US; the problem is just getting them to Chile in a timely fashion. We would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks,
