Livestock is the second source of revenue in Niger after uranium. In 2009 the three months annual rainfall was not well timely and zonal distributed and this resulted to 60% short of cattle food and food shortage in some areas affecting more than 2 million people. Some of the consequences will be more offer and animal death. Vulnerable people will find themselves trapped in the viscous circle of poverty. There is need to do something about poverty factors in Sahel: drought, famine, bad trade environment, lack of infrastructures and ignorance etc. There is enough water underground waiting to be pumped out.
