The recent devastating earthquake in Haiti is a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions. The magnitude of this crisis is exacerbated by an enduring legacy of poverty, political instability, and an exceptionally poor infrastructure. All of these factors combine to make a normally difficult disaster recovery operation appear seemingly insurmountable. Over the last week, aid and comfort delivered by the US Government has made a real difference and saved many lives. Others have helped as well, including many international relief organizations and rescue workers. As the focus changes from rescue to recovery, and then to stability and reconstruction, assistance from contractors prepared to provide sustained support will be required.

One of the most immediate and enduring needs will be the need for rotary wing heavy lift helicopters, security personnel, linguistic support and equipment tailored to the needs of first responders, relief and recovery workers serving an afflicted population. With a broken infrastructure and bewildered, overwhelmed population – immediate assistance is required to minimize the suffering and additional loss of life. USGI is a professional services corporation comprised of retired US military, former international relief workers and law enforcement professionals. We have the equipment, experience and ability to provide immediate assistance. That is the purpose of this unsolicited concept to deliver operational support to Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE.

USGI can immediately provide the following to augment relief operations in Haiti: heavy lift rotary wing and medium lift fixed wing aircraft; command and control functions in order to seamlessly integrate our aircraft into the current operational tempo and structure; security and assessment personnel; native Haitian Creole translators; and an extensive array of first responder and tactical equipment in support of this operational concept and emerging needs.
