It's not too early to start thinking about long-term recovery and long-term reconstruction efforts in Haiti. Obviously the timeframe for this is YEARS, however we should all start thinking about getting this country back up on its feet from a sustainable business standpoint. These efforts are already underway to some extent.

Unemployment is going to be sky high. There is going to be a tremendous pool of employable people looking for work very soon.

Sustainable businesses are going be critical to the rebuilding of this society.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. I've already make contact with three different organizations/business people asking the right questions ...

"What are the basic infrastructure needs going to be?" --Cement --Electricity --Lumber --Water/Sewage --Food --Oil/Propane/Natural Gas --Healthcare --Transportation --Etc

"What are the most important secondary businesses that need to be started?" --Cleanup and debris removal --General housing/rebuilding needs --Internet/TV/Communications --Etc

I would like to hear from anyone who is interested in furthering these discussions over the next several weeks.

The key will be locating business people on the ground who we can trust and work with.

Jesus La Solucion here in Santo Domingo is funding a Haitian pastor to return to PAP. He is returning to a work he launched years ago. He claims 1200+ members. Churches are microcosms of established hardworking commited typically honest individuals all pulling for the same goals.

This congregation may be a good place to start fishing for competant persons to pilot new business ventures in PAP.

contact number: Pastor Jose Almaraz 829-904-1639

I will post Haitian pastor's name and contact info soon
