Starfish Community

Two major aftershocks have occurred (5.9) following the initial earthquake now reported to have been at 7.2. IDRN is monitoring this situation and will advise of developments as they occur. If anyone has on the ground information of the Haiti situation please notify the IDRN through a posting on the Starfish Community or providing information on www.idrn.info.

Elim Fellowship has a bible school just outside PAP that was relatively undamaged. communication by skype is apparently possible (this is 2nd hand info). I have asked my go between to see if they would be willing to host relief teams. We are considering forming a medical team from WNY - waiting to hear about needs / transport / security, etc.

At Water Missions International, we're now working with our Country Director in Haiti (in contact by phone, is physically on the ground in Port-au-Prince area and unharmed) to assess safe water needs in the earthquake affected areas for mobile water purification equipment. As funding permits, we're actively looking for ministries active in the disaster response where mobile water purification equipment can assist in their relief efforts.
