NEWS This Morning: TAJIKISTAN: Nearly 600 people in southern Tajikistan are facing freezing winter weather without permanent shelter after an earthquake on Saturday destroyed their homes http://members.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/126269713222.htm , the government has said. Earlier media reports had said around 20,000 people in the quake-affected area bordering Afghanistan were without proper shelter. The magnitude 5.3 earthquake destroyed 98 homes and damaged over 900 more. There were no fatalities from the earthquake, but aid groups are worried that freezing conditions could kill survivors without proper shelter and food.

Is anyone in the network working in Tajikistan? Is anyone responding?
