Great Need in El Salvador
A note from a key leader in Latin America:
As a consequence of th effect of hurricane Ida, the Central zone of El Salvador that includes the provinces of Cabanas, San Vicente, La Paz, La Libertad and the greater San Salvador area with its 16 municipalities have suffered catastrophic damages. We have seen rain precipitation up to 355 mm in less than 10 hours. Up until noon today, Emergency Services was reporting over 147 people dead, almost 10,000 displaced people and hundreds missing.
The government has declared a State of Emergency throughout the whole country.
A quick response is required to help cover the most basic and immediate needs of the thousands of people that have lost everything. We need to provide clothing, materials for shelter and non-persihable foods.
If you are able to help or know of anyone that is able to help, please contact Mike McCausland, Executive Director of HISG as soon as possible. I can be reached at mmccausland@HISG.org.
