Here are some of the opportunities available for partnership and investment with our organization in Mauritania:

  • Business training,

  • Identifying income-generating activities,

  • Community Health Training: (curriculum, resources, models, funding),

  • Education support,

  • Support for Talibe project (street boys),

  • Agricultural development projects: (Neem, Jatropha, Mangoes) (We're very excited about potential with Neem. We're partnered with www.justneem.com who are marketing Neem-based soaps and other products in the US),

  • Possible expansion into a youth prison project (rehabilitation),

Update: I'll know more when I get back to Nouakchott this week (Oct 27), but another opportunity in Mauritania could be to help communities impacted by severe desert locust swarms this year. I am seeing growing concerns and frequent alerts from the UN System suggesting this could be a very bad year for locusts in Mauritania.

I'll post more news when I have it.

Karen,

Thanks for the posting. Tom Love is the new HISG International Director for that region. He will be taking over that region from Norm Brinkley. Did you get a chance to meet and talk with Tom Love during the Expo? Please make sure you connect with him so he knows the extent of your opportunities there!
