Grace-Connection has developed a hygiene and disease prevention "train the trainer" teaching system that is designed to empower educators who want to teach WaSH principles to the poorest people groups. This curriculum is focused on people who live in areas with unimproved or slightly improved water. Dirt floor villages. This teaching system is free. We also have videos demonstrating the curriculum "in action" on location in a classroom setting in Africa. We are currently translating the curriculum into Spanish and adapting it to work for the poorest in Latin America.

We are using this system through ZAO Water, a non-profit humanitarian organization providing clean drinking water in Eastern Africa and it is has proven to be extremely effective in the overall health of villages and communities. www.zaowater.com

This is great! I always appreciate it when organizations provide open source training materials to the public. Has this training been used in China or any Asian countries?

Our Health & Hygiene "Train the Trainer" curriculum is tailor-made for African Cultures. i.e. Illustrations and examples are people-group specific. All of our teaching materials can be downloaded for free on our website. We also have videos demonstrating how to use our material on the website. (no charge)

As interest is aroused in other countries, we will conform this material with alternate people-group illustrations and stories. The challenges & principles for Health & Hygiene are the same no matter the location. Presentation will need to vary depending on the culture.

Our teaching format has been accepted in the school system in Kenya and we have been invited to train teachers at a teaching college there.

Q: ARE THERE OTHER COUNTRIES WHO COULD USE OUR SYSTEM?

Grace-Connection will be in Haiti on the 16-18 of May. We will have several Hygiene Training Systems with us looking to give them away.

We train trainers for disease prevention, water collection, water storage and end use. Our goal is to eliminate preventable waterborne disease and infection. Our Curriculum includes a Teacher's Manual, 67 color visual aids and training DVDs for how to use the system.

We would like to gift our system to local humanitarian orgs that will train and release teachers. WaSH standards apply. You can see part of our curriculum at our website www.grace-connection.org

Please contact us asap if you are in Haiti or someone who is in Haiti and interested. pselvey@grace-connection.org
